We went last year. We had friends with us who opted not to go so we were on our own.
It is a small community, easily walked. A few shops. We spent time talking with one shop owner and learning about life in a community which gets all its supplies by boat. The actually had a dedicated boat of their own which was being repaired, so instead of weekly trips to replenish supplies, they had to make do with monthly trips. She talked about making that trip once a month all the way to Anchorage to restock. Her husband was the chief of police for Seldovia. We find this kind of "attraction" the best. Meeting the locals and learning about life in a world far different from ours. There were a couple restaurants and we had a nice leisurely dinner. There is a boardwalk and waterfront that had to be rebuilt after the earthquake. We stayed close to the settlement, but you could walk or ride bikes around more. There were cars, even though you cannot drive off the point. We really enjoyed it. Oh, eagles and otters in the harbor.
