Smart phone apps WHO USES THEM?

So I and wanting to learn the best way to avoid low bridges road construction areas etc etc, what are you guys and girls using to plan your routes to avoid these pitfalls?
  • Buy a trucker's atlas it has the low clearance info:

    Amazon

There is also a low clearance overlay that works with pc mapping programs like Streets and Trips and the DeLorme software:

    Low Clearances

For either one to work you will have to look at them before you get to a low bridge. We came within 30 ft of hitting one in Montana this summer, right off I-90 too. My son noticed that it was low by spoting the height sign painted on the overpass side.
  • Allstays has an app for RVers and another for truckers. Both are compatable with Google Maps, and both have settings to show low bridges. One thing to keep in mind though is those numbers are just estimates, and are not always updated after a new layer of asphalt is added to the road. The road gets taller from the extra asphalt, but the bridge stays the same, so the clearance is less than it was before.
  • Howdy!

X2 on Co-Pilot gps app. You can set the height of your RV setting up to 13'. Beenn using i for years has never srtered me wrong.

    "Happy Trails"
    Chiefneon
  • All good but when all else fails pay attention to the warning signs! Something many people forget to do.
  • I use Co-Pilot on my smartphone and/or a height POI file on our GPS to alert me to low overpasses ahead well before most signage appears.
