Its a good road and as noted the 2 passes are doable but will take some time to crest. We have been over several times and last summer in our new to us rv. A v10 e450, and we crested wolf creek at 35mph! There is a good pull off there so you can take pictures of the elevation with the rig in the picture.
If you liek to visit mineral springs there is one with a small rv park in pagosa healing waters, but generally it full (5 spaces). There is an older one a few miles est of town where we stayed and its pretty nice set by the river, its not the big rig fancy one that you might see and if you do its about a mile back up the road down on the river. It an old KOA I think sign up by the road.
There is also a religious shrine further east just south of the highwayat San Luis. Couple of small rv parks along the way to alamosa. Also you have the great sand dunes NP along the way just before alamosa. There is an rv park there also. BTW Walsenburg has a nice roadside rest area to stop at and take a break.
As to the car make sure your brakes dont active with the 4 ways, mine do with the same system!
