We are currently in Reno Nevad. I am looking for ideas of places to visit and interesting routes in northern Utah, southern Idaho and Wisconsin.We are going to be in West Wendover KOA for this weekend. I know this is a huge area but I find I have 7 or 8 extra days to burn in this general area before heading east to Savanna Illinois for a family get together on August 6th. Because of the crowds I crossed Yellowstone off the list(I could be wrong though). I was thinking about Devils Tower in Wyoming, maybe a round about route getting there. We did Dinosaur, Flaming Gorge and the Badlands Lands last year. Again I realize this is a huge area but I really am not familiar with the interesting land and roads in this area. Craters of the moon and City of Rocks in south eastern Idaho might interest you

Maquoketa Caves State Park in Iowa isn't all that far from Savannah. In Wisconsin The House on the Rock is unusual. It's about 45 minutes west of Madison. There's always the water parks at the Wisconsin Dells.

We stopped at St. Anthony sand dunes in Idaho a few months ago. While we had our own bikes we did see UTVs for rent and they do have two rv campgrounds there.

Lava Hot Springs southeast of Pocatello is nice

Take 75 north off I-84 in Idaho to Stanley, Idaho and the Sawtooth Nat'l Rec Area. There are many public campgrounds and if you trout fish it's a terrific place to go. It's very scenic.

I want to thank you folks that replied. It was a great help. We were able to visit the lava hot springs near Pocatello and the Craters of the Moon. The hot springs were nice but we really enjoyed the Craters of the Moon. A wild and desolate area. Very very interesting to say the least..

If you have any interest in the "birth" of nuclear produced electricity, you might stop at the EBR-1, the first reactor to produce usable electricity. The building is a museum - among other things on the self guided tour is a chance to use a set of remote arms. Located about 20 miles east of Arco.

Outside the museum is something I never realized existed; prototypes for atomic powered aircraft engines. Designed for bombers that would fly for days at a time:

I like a lot of what Fangs says ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ look into it.

Only thing I always try to catch is Dino NM - Flaming Gorge NRA and Wind River Canyon SD - maybe just one or two just a couple more great spots - also will add hard to spend just 3-4 days in Custer and not wish you had more time.

If you want some great scenery along the way, take US 89 from Brigham City, UT to Bear Lake, Alpine Junction, WY, Jackson/Grand Teton NP, and Moran Junction/Colter Bay. Then US 26 to Riverton and Shoshone, US 20 to Worland, and US 16 across the Bighorns to Devils Tower. Then, if you haven't been to the Black Hills before, plan to spend a couple of days visiting Mt. south central Wyoming hwy 130. runs through the 'snowy range'. we drove once in mid-june and several manufacturers we testing snowmobiles along there. I talked to a guy and he said they like to test in the spring and summer as there is plenty of snow and good weather. the road was closed one day due to snow.
