I can work between the two systems, but I find that metric does take longer to visualise. This is despite having a scientific background and coming from another country, I do not have the old French/Trudeau bias that many other Canadians have. "It's being forced on us!" I have heard this attitude many times, it's a 'French' thing!
I can easily visualise small measurements, but 18967 kg means little, other than it's a lot. I still have to think, "mmm, that's over 40000 lbs or about 20 tons, I have an extra complication as a ton is 2240lbs to me! I also know that 937 mm is almost a metre so about 3 feet, and 937 metres is almost a kilometre about .6 of a mile, but 937 cm. is um, um , sorry couldn't get it in 5 secs so gave up!
Maybe I'm not as 'Bi' as I thought!
