St. Martin Sea Caves

Want to travel along coast of Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick.

Many interesting villages and natural wonders.

Has anyone travelled the rural routes and encountered crossed bridges in an A-class motorhome.

weight and height restriction issues.

  • The Fundy Trail that starts just east of St Martins is a beautiful drive. Many pull offs for pictures as well as lots of trails.it follows akoing the coast and some day will probably connect to Fundy Park, but for now it's a dead end. A special note that the Cave restaurant in front of the caves is a great place to eat..
  • We went up to New Brunswick in 2008 and stayed two nights at Century Farm Campground. Nice owners, nice campground, right on the Bay of Fundy. We don't have a toad, so we drove our Class C over the covered bridges (I seem to remember there were two) so we could drive the Fundy Trail Parkway. When we were there the Fundy Trail wasn't a through road, but we were told that there were plans to extend it.

The sea caves in St Martins were shallow caves accessible as the tide goes out by walking across a shallow stream.

Fundy National Park was also great, but you will definitely need to use the toad there as parking at trail heads, etc. was limited.

IMO the best place to experience the Fundy tides is at Hopewell Rocks. Plan to spend several hours there to experience the tidal range, which is amazing.

  • Heres a link to a pic of the covered bridge in St. Martins, NB.

In the centre it's 4 metres - just over 13 feet. On the sides it slopes to 3.1M (10 ft). That's probably typical of most coveed bridges in he prvince. There may be a safety measure of a foot or so built in to those restrictions (ie the heights may be slightly more than stated), I'm not sure. St. Martins is a beautiful community about 30 miles from Saint John. There are 2 campgrounds, almost beside one another, in the town that I'm aware of.
