Suggested routing AROUND Huston TX

#1 If I were going from Beaumont to Fredericksburg I would stay on I-10 to exit 632 and follow 183 to Luling, TX where I would then take TX 80 to San Marcos, then FM 12 to FM 32 to Blanco, TX where I would take FM 1623 (through Luckenbach) on to US 290 and into Fredericksburg. Why? to avoid Austin. I'd much rather drive through Houston than thorough Austin.
#2 If I did wish to avoid Houston (and surrounding metrapolitan area) I would take TX 105 at Beaumont and follow 105 all the way to Brenham, where I would pickup US 290. US 290 through Austin would go all the way to Fredericksburg. To avoid Austin, take TX 21 at Bastrop and pick up the route above at San Marcos.
Just some more possibilities.
