Virginia is a big state. It takes close to 8 hours to drive from Bristol to Virginia Beach or Alexandria. That said, Colonial Williamsburg, Bush Gardens, Sherando Lake, Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway, Blackfriar's Playhouse at the American Shakespeare Theater in Staunton, Torpedo Factory (artist studios), Assateague and Chincoteague islands, Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, Barter Theater, Mt. Vernon, Montecello, just to mention a few.
