I personally would prefer to come down the 13/113 route through Delaware then down the Eastern Shore to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. That route cruises through a bunch of small towns with plenty of places for pit stops. Even more interesting would be to get off I95 and take 322 across the bridge into New Jersey, then take 55, 47, and Garden State Parkway to the Cape May - Lewes Ferry. The Ferry lets you off in Lewes, DE, where you can pick up Rt. 1 to 24 to 113 to 13. Lots of campgrounds to overnight in Cape May County or down the Eastern Shore.
