I'm in and out of Florida to N.C. year round on business. If time is an issue, from Tampa, I'd take I-75 north to Macon, Ga and I-16 east towards Savannah. Exit 1A onto US 129 N and follow to US 441 North. Hang a left heading north and follow to Cherokee. It's a nice break from Interstate traffic and by-passes Atlanta. I see no advantage in taking the I-95/I-26 route. Typical Interstate scenery other than inland coastal marshes around the Brunswick area. Travel safe.
