My daughter and SIL will be coming west bound through Tehachapi via Hwy. 58 next weekend. According to the weather report there is a possibility of snow. She's now worried they'll get stuck somewher...

If west bound wait, in Mojave for a day if they are not comfortable with the weather, but I would likely go on up to the top and wait there. Going up to the crest from Mojave is not bad. If it was snowing after I got up to the crest I would wait at the truck stops, big store parking lots, or one of the RV parks for conditions to improve before heading down.
