texas to Florida coastal route

I thought I would hug the gulf coast to Florida from Texas this time instead of taking boring I-10. I plan to start with Surfside Beach Tex and continue through the ferries toward Louisiana. The New Orleans area looks complicated due to the low lay of the land, so I'll skirt around the city by using I-10 until I can pick up 90.
Anyone see any other areas I should avoid?

    You can get to I-10 before New Orleans via I-310. We stayed at Bayou Segnette State Park which is a nice park. I would back track to I-310 rather than going via the Westbank Expwy.
    Another challenge is Mobile AL. I would get on I-10 and go through the tunnel.
    I would get back on I-10 to go through Tallahassee FL.
    How far are you going? South into FL or north?
