It's hard to give you a route not knowing how much time you have, what kind of RV, what your interests are, etc. We've traveled there often and we always choose a different route on secondary roads.
Purchase the 'Mountain Directory for Truckers and RVers' if you're concerned about mountains. There are plenty of public parks along the way and also RV parks.
