The Dalles or to Monument Valley

pulling our 27 foot TT from Oregon to Monument Valley in Sept. Not in a big hurry and prefer to drive secondary more scenic routs. one way takes us through ID and NV and over, the other all the way down through UT. either way is about the same distance, any advice on witch rout or anything I should be on the look out for.
  • The subject line sounds like you are debating whether to go to the Dalles or to Monument Valley. That lower case 'or to' is confusing.
  • Monument Valley! So much in UT and CO. We do both virtually every year and love all the places. So much beauty and so many variations. Feel free to email of PM me if you have specific questions.

Utah by all means...Moab, Canyonlands, Arches, Rt12, Kodachrome, Bryce, etc... I'd skip Great basin Nevada. Its a very pretty road to drive up & back down once but the only campground that can handle your rig is at the top of the road and is by far the prettiest. The only problem is that the road to get up to it has a strick 25' total length limit.:R

the border inn casino/rv park on 50 just outside of baker and minutes to great basin has full hook ups.

  • Can your route include the Sawtooths in Idaho? Spectacular in September. So is Great Basin Nat Park in Nevada. Let us know if that works for you, and I will post some useful blog links.
