I don't feel sorry for them. I think it is fine. They get to experience it at some level and see some beautiful sights. And, I am sure, most all of them are very satisfied. And not everyone wants to spend months on one vacation.
Do they really get to see that much? Matter of opinion, I guess. Certainly they don't see what someone who has plenty of time on their hands and the means to get around the state by ground transportation will see. But at the same time, they will see some things you can't see by ground.
To each his own. Enjoy your travels. But don't judge other's enjoyment by what you do.
