Are the ones who take a cruise to alaska, then the train to the cruise lines' hotel and then fly back home and tell everybody they've seen Alaska! We just spent the whole summer cruising around Alask...

I've done both, the cruise took 6 or 7 days the RV trip 6 weeks which was short.
The people who take the cruise may next be off to the Caribean, the Mediterranean, Tahiti, South America etc. etc. To me a cruise is like a sampler. You cover a great distance & if you see something you really like you can return by other means for a longer time. For others the cruise in itself is the treasure.
No need to feel sorry for them, they are having a great time.
