Third Bridge to Cape Cod,MA

Third Bridge?
Well, maybe in 7 to 10 years. Would be nice to help with the traffic. Will we get a casino or bridge first! ;)
  • I read this but not sure - do they plan on making all 3 bridges toll?? If yes then ok they impact some Cape traffic (people who wont pay the toll) but if it is just this one new bridge - they create a significant traffic mess on the "free" bridges and minimal traffic coming over the toll bridge.... Normal MA DOT thinking....
  • The way the article reads the new bridge would be the only one with a toll. Of course when going the opposite direction across the Sagamore bridge you've already paid a toll unless you used the Bourne bridge which would still be used for both directions,I assume.
Unless they plan on some type of electronic tolling, I don't see how stopping to pay a toll helps traffic flow.
I see it's just one idea under consideration. I wonder what others "ideas" they have ?
  • The Tappan Zee Bridge in NY only charges tolls in one direction. Perhaps an idea for the Cape would be to open two bridges in one direction depending on the heavy traffic times, and charge tolls going off the Cape only.
Whatever they decide, I think we would still prefer to take the Tunnel... :B

Or you could just drive down to the canal and wait for the ferry. :B

Casino or Bridge? Knowing Mass., which ever one generates the most tax revenue!
  • If you are old enough to stay in a 55+ park now, you will not have to worry about it. MA will take much too long for planning, hearings, permits, protests, bidding process, and if it is ever approved - construction. MA residents, remember the 'Big Dig'.
