I do not use a toad braking system as I consider them to be excessive failure contributors. Your Ranger is a lite truck and if you check GVW for the combination you will likely see it within the towing capacity of your mh. My simple observation during last years 4 month Alaska trip was that about 1/3 toads had aux brakes, 2/3 did not. My observation of the dingy forum the last 5 years is that folks with aux brakes tend to justify them, folks without them smile and move on.
This was our second trip to Alaska and have only seen three moose well back off the highway in the trees. But those frost heaves will sneak up on you and really shake things up.
