Here's a trip calculator you can use to figure out your toll. You will be getting on the Tollway near Cherry Valley and stay on the Tollway to the state line. In general, tolls are doubled for those without a transponder. I believe you'll only have one toll plaza to go through. I wouldn't bother trying to avoid the toll. It's probably less than 4 dollars. You'd waste time and probably spend more than that in extra fuel.

You can get an EZ-Pass transponder from any state in the EZ-Pass consortium, including Ohio. They all are the same system. Some (maybe all) member states have walk-in centers if you don't want to take the time to get one via mail or whatever. Different states have somewhat different fee structures for the EZ-Pass account, whatever they call it, and sometimes discounts available for their state.

If you'll be traveling the New York Thruway much with a motorhome, they have a special motorhome plan that is worth considering and setting up the account with New York. Basically, with the plan, you pay the equivalent auto rate for a motorhome, which works out to about half the cost on the thruway. If you set it up with a credit card and email statements they have no annual fees.

I have set mine up so my car is recognized and the class C & car are recognized. Worked good all the way to Maine.

I missed one last year, but since I knew I had missed it, I just paid the toll online - no ticket.

Yes. Exit onto a state highway and get back on after the toll plaza. My wife is from that area and we've gotten good at avoiding the tolls.
