Toronto to Orlando, FL

Hi, any advice on best route would be appreciated. We did the I-75 last year and the road around Ohio was in poor condition. Would the mountains via Virginia be too much for my 37' Class A gasser + toad ?
  • If you decide to cross at Fort Erie/Buffalo, and head down I-90 to I-79, by all means exit I-79 in WV to pick up the "Mountaineer Expressway" (Rt. 19). It will join up with I-77 at the south end, but be aware that there are several towns where the speed limit drops from 65 mph to 50 mph. THESE LIMITS ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED. We always go through at about 47 mph and have never had any issues, but often see some cars pulled over for speeding.

However, seeing that you're from Cobourg, going through the GTA to get to Ft. Erie may not be too appealing! The I-81 route may be preferable for you, but for us being in Oakville, we always cross at the Peace Bridge in Ft. Erie.

    X2
    I-81, 17, I-95 is the best route.
Depending on your location in Toronto you might also consider picking up I-390/15 South out of Rochester and hitting I-81S at Harrisburg. That road has much improved over the years. I have taken it many times to Myrtle Beach vacations.
  • Thanks for the information, we have driven the 'scenic' route a couple of times but in a car, I think you have convinced me to go the Virginia route - :)

  • My wife and I went to Niagara Falls 2 weeks ago via I75 from Florida. We made the return trip via I77. The roads through the mountains of West Virginia were much better. I have a 2006 Hurricane 31D and towed our tracker. Will not go I 75 again.
