We lived in Forks back in 1979, and I have driven 101 in Washington and Oregon many times. We've camped up and down Washington and Oregon for many years.
Highway 101 is a good highway, Oregon's portion is more scenic than Washington's. Both are used my large semi trucks and you won't have any issues with the roads. Lots of pull outs, lots of places for fuel or gas, lots to do and see. No worries mate.... :)
