- Little_KopitExplorerI did it in 2006, when parts of it were not finished. They were finished and all connected in 2009. Much paving has been done since.
At that time I lived in Newfoundland.
Photos are in links in my signature.
There is a power dam to happen at Muskrat Falls. Very recently the construction side was occupied by residents concerned about the environmental effects of not removing all organic matter.
I can't find the settlement article, but via cbc.ca/news I've found a bit: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/muskrat-falls-quotes-protests-1.3815505
Nevertheless, traffic has to get through and no doubt the government of Newfoundland and Labrador will find a way.
I'd like to do it again.
:B - lonnie4801ExplorerWe did it last year. If you want a copy of my trip log send me a PM with your email address.
- answerswillvaryExplorerI am moving this to the Canada Forum now for added input.
- pauljExplorer IILatest Labrador question on the Alaska/Canada forum

They aren't as common as a Alaska questions, but still more abundant there than on the USA oriented R&R forum. - RoadpilotExplorerWe did the reverse for a bit. We took the ferry from Sainte Barbe Newfoundland to Blanc Sablon then drove up to Redbay. The scenery was fantastic - larger then life. The Mosquitos and Gnats were also larger than life.
The paved road ends at Redbay and talking with locals they said a spare tire is a must to go the rest of the way through Labrador. The stones used to pave the road are very sharp. - JaxDadExplorer IIII've done that trip numerous times, albeit not recently. I've also flown the same route by small plane several times.
The scenery by road is for the most part is that you are driving down a treed alley.
From the air the scenery is amazing.
For my $0.02 worth, I'd drive out to NS, take the ferry to Newfoundland and the ferry north from there. - swimmer_speExplorer
