Actually most stores are closed.
Unlike Thanksgiving - Christmas isn't a big selling day. W usually closes at 8 pm on Christmas Eve and opens at 6 am on the 26th for most 24 hour stores.
Most CVS and Walgreens are open during the day.
After noon - most movie theaters are open - it is a big movie day. - rockylarsonExplorerOur overnight stop Christmas night is Cracker Barrel. Closed so plenty of quiet spaces. Open for breakfast in the morning.
- LynnandCarolExplorerOther than truck stops, The Waffle house (DW calls it the Awful House) is about the only eatery open. Even McDonald's close, and the Loves are open, but the fast food is closed.

That's funny....I was just thinking of a memorable Christmas Day eating at Waffle House enroute to daughter's in Dallas!
We also did the Waffle House in Orlando for Christmas one year.
As we look back it was one of our better Christmas's.

- Jim_ShoeExplorerI drove my Mom in her car to her place in Florida from Cincinnati for the winter in '96 on Christmas eve and the next day. Most gas stations and motels were open, but restaurants were mostly closed. We found a Chinese restaurant open on Christmas night, but nothing else. Florida rest area buildings were closed, and some had the gates closed, but that was only in Florida. Other travelers said there were union problems.
The next day I flew home and had my choice of seats. - brooks379ExplorerYes all the truck stops will be open on Christmas. I have spent a couple Christmas days on the road. for some truckers and truck stop workers it's business as usual. Some truck stops put out a Christmas dinner too....not like home but it's the thought that counts.
- Francesca_KnowlExplorerI'd only worry about it if I was a cash-only buyer. Seems to me like 99% of gas pumps are card-operated these days and that most are left "on" whether the attached business is open or not. At least that's been my experience around here. I've pumped plenty of fuel at darkened stations at 2am...
Exceptions to that probably exist in Oregon, where fuel has to be pumped by a live person. - pauljExplorer IIA lot of people travel to grandma's house over the holidays.
