Middle of the day or on a weekend.
Two choices in Dallas to get from I-45 to I-35E. From I-45 you can take I-30 west to I-35E. Or go slightly farther north and take loop 366/Woodall Rogers Freeway over to I-35E. I would opt for the 366/Woodall Rogers route myself. As you are passing downtown on I-45 stay in the right lanes and watch for the sign "TO 35E WACO/DENTON". And on 366/Woodall stay in the right lanes for exit to I-35E.
You probably will have no problem, but always be prepared for traffic backups for one reason or the other.
If you have google maps on your smart phone, check it as you enter the Dallas area. If there are traffic backups on a particular stretch of road it will show up as red on google maps with an explaination of the problem. If 366/Woodall shows red then the I-30 to I-35E may be better if it shows green.
