We have been to NL several times. The ferry is expensive so it is advisable to spend as much time as possible visiting. It is a big island and there is a lot to see and do. A search on this forum will give you loads of information.
I would not even consider going if you cannot spend at least 4 weeks on NL - longer if at all possible. My advise is to book your ferry trip going to the island and 7 - 10 days before your intended return, book your return - and try to be flexible with your return date.
It is a wonderful place to visit. I am sure you have seen the many excellent ads on the TV promoting the Island. You won't be disappointed. Be sure to contact the tourist board for travel info.
