I was just thinking the same thing. For my part I would NOT make the 550 drive up to Silverton and Ouray. I love that part of the country and have made the drive many times in auto, but would not enjoy the drive in an RV.
I would suggest a stop at Mesa Verda then on up US 490 to US 191. A stopover in the area of Price Utah and then another around Rock Springs, WY would put you within an easy day's drive on to Jackson.
Something like this would be my recommendation rather than going straight north from Durango. I think it would be a more pleasant trip.
