Tucson down to Texas. San Antonio, Corpus & Houston

Hi all We are over here from the UK and are currently in Tucson (lovely warm days mmmm). My Wife and I have both always wanted to visit Texas. Looking at the map, the places we would like to see are...

Balmorhea State Park is 180 miles east of El Paso and 364 miles east of San Antonio on I10. A spring fed pool popular with scuba divers. Not far away is Fort Davis National Historic area a 19th century frontier fort and very interesting at the base of the Texas Rockies. Also the McDonald Observatory if you like the stars and cannot remember what our night sky looks like unimpeded by light. A beautiful mountain range hosting Fort Davis State Park, watch out for the javelinas!
