I may not be phrasing my questions properly......
The G500 shows there is at least one association of fuel retailers in Mexico forming to use their power of numbers to gain strength. Could this mean once they are free to not be Pemex any longer they will change the name of their stations to G500 - or whatever?
If this association and others like them can buy from the US starting in April will they be buying ULSD from the US? I do not think LSD is going to be available in the US.
If the US sells diesel and gasoline for lower prices than Pemex wholesale prices would it not make sense to start buying the cheaper US fuels?
Will G500 and others be able to afford to transport fuel from the US and still have a lower overall cost?
Will US fuel retailers begin to build and open brand name stations around Mexico? Will G500 and others convert to being other brand name stations such as Shell or Exxon or Valero?
As stated a couple times above - the Mexican government is still going to set the price of fuel - but there will be a range from low to high and not just one set price. Can G500 buy fuel in the US at lower wholesale prices and then be able to have the lowest prices compared with the other fuel retailers who still buy from Pemex? Does anyone know a way to find out what Pemex sells fuel to the retailers - wholesale prices in Mexico?
How much will Mexico tax the imported fuel? Will the tax be so high that it does not make sense to buy from the US?
How soon with the diesel refineries in Mexico be online with ULSD? Sounds like it won't be long. For those new to this forum and this topic - we have been promised ULSD by Pemex since at least 2010. We are still waiting. Maybe by next winter this will all finally be settled?
