Below are selected excerpts from another articles about diesel in the US. This a couple years old but based on what it says it would seem exports have probably increased since it was written. You can read the entire article on the referenced website if you are interested. There are lots of similar articles out there. NOTE - I almost always provide websites where I get my information - I am not making this stuff up - it sure would be nice if others would post website sources of information.

US becoming 'refiner to the world' as diesel demand grows
U.S. refineries are expanding their diesel-production capacity, not so much for truckers in the U.S., but for drivers in places such as Mexico City and Santiago, Chile.

Already running at their highest levels in six years, U.S. refineries are finding strong demand for diesel fuel, used widely in cars outside of the United States, and other distillates, like jet fuel.

"All these companies are expanding their export terminals—Valero,Shell, Marathon Petroleum, all of them," said Fadel Gheit, senior energy analyst at Oppenheimer. "Any companies with refining assets on the Gulf Coast are expanding their export terminals.
…The profitability is not that clear, but the trend is very clear."

Valero, the world's largest independent refiner, completed building two new hydrocrackers, one last year at its refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, and another last month in St. Charles Parish, La. Each cost about $1.5 billion and can process 60,000 barrels of petroleum feed stocks a day.

"We're talking about expanding them to make them even larger and we may expand an existing hydrocracker an another existing refinery," said Valero spokesman Bill Day.

Valero's stated goal is to produce the same amount of distillates as gasoline by the end of 2015 on a one-to-one ratio—unusual for the industry.

Marathon Petroleum told Louisiana regulators this month that in fact it is speeding up the expansion of its hydrocracking unit at the Garyville, La., refinery and will complete it in October, a full year ahead of schedule. Marathon will increase the hydrocracker's capacity by 20,000 for production of ultra-low sulfur diesel production, according to Reuters. Marathon is also overhauling a 275,000 distillation unit at the refinery.

Government data shows the U.S. exported 1 million barrels a day of diesel fuel for the week ended Aug. 2, about the same as the last several weeks, but up from 840,000 barrels a week earlier in the summer. The U.S. industry has increasingly found foreign buyers for petroleum products, mostly diesel but also jet fuel and some gasoline.

According to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, U.S. exports rose to 2.6 million barrels per day by the end of 2012, from 1.3 million in 2007. Wednesday's data showed exports of 2.9 million barrels per day in the past week. The U.S. imported 700,000 barrels of gasoline per day in the week, while exporting 258,000 barrels a day of finished gasoline.

Valero says it is responsible for about 20 to 25 percent of U.S. exports, and it exports 15 to 20 percent of the diesel it produces, and about 8 percent of the gasoline, Day said. In the second quarter, Valero was producing 1.3 million barrels a day of gasoline and 910,000 barrels of distillates, which include fuel oil, jet fuel and diesel.

I finally found something showing total US diesel production by weekly production. Apparently they do still produce some LSD but by percentage comparison the production is relatively small. I do not really know how to read all the charts they produce but here is some of it. Anyone interested can go to the referenced website to see more.

About 3 or 4 months ago I read in one of the news papers here in Mexico City that ULSD was only being solpd in some gas stations in towns along the border that cater to tractors for trailers and trucks that go across the borddr and in Mexico City only the Metro Bus use ULSD, all being brought from the USA, I do not remember what news paper it was.

The article was in relation to the polution in the valley of Mexico and Toluca.

Don't know what you are reading but all major USA refineries are producing enormous quantities of "Non ULSD" fuel. Marine diesel, agricultural diesel, commercial power plant diesel fuel is not ULSD. The USA sells a lot of diesel - much of it to the northern neighbor. Off highway diesel is dyed.

After December 1, 2014 all highway, non-road, locomotive and marine diesel fuel produced and imported will be ULSD.

There are others if anyone wants to research.

My reading leads me to believe that no diesel refinery in the US produces anything but ULSD diesel fuel.

Don't know what you are reading but all major USA refineries are producing enormous quantities of "Non ULSD" fuel. Marine diesel, agricultural diesel, commercial power plant diesel fuel is not ULSD. The USA sells a lot of diesel - much of it to the northern neighbor. Off highway diesel is dyed.

But there is no great surplus of ULSD. This is why Mexico has to occasionally purchase Japanese ULSD through it's Rosarito offshore pumping facility.

I believe the simple warning of "Using Other Than ULSD in This Vehicle Will Void Warranty" serves the purpose.

I am pretty sure you will survive - and your RV will survive - as have many others. But some get on this forum and it seems they are encouraging people to go ahead and go without knowing there could be consequences and what those consequences could be. I do think I does depend on how far you drive and for how long and so on. And I also do not think the problems that could occur would be immediate. I just think people should do some checking and get a few opinions from different sources before risking what could be a costly repair. I doubt limit exposure would be a problem. I have not idea. We have a 2006 and plan to keep it so now worries.

I don't claim to know everything about the damage that could or couldn't occurr but I am only posting my experience and what I have heard.
My tank holds 150 gallons of diesel I get between 8 to 9 miles to the gallon. PV is about 1000 miles from Nogales where I fill up with ULSD. That gets me about 1200 to the tank. So after I use quarter tank I fill with Mexican diesel and fill again when quarter gone. Fill tank at final destination and that gets me back across border.
My rig has a little over 30,000 miles on it and 1000 of Mexican diesel, each trip,my opinion it will hopefully survive.

Cleaning the DPF on class 8 trucks is a hit and miss procedure. Some mfrs. do not recommend cleaning. The price on new units has dropped significantly. As for fuel quality. Back about 20 years ago it was not unusual to fill up and soon find white smoke coming out the tailpipe of a gasoline car. Or your car would sputter. My wife had a Tracker here in Mexico that would ping every once in awhile. With all the electronics the fuel would have to be very poor to have pinging. But the high Cetane diesel is great stuff. Our non electronic Bluebird loved the Mexican fuel!

Since the concept of the particulate filter there was a cleaning option. It is a oven type contraption they bake the Hell out of the filter to disintegrate the carbon

My money is on the theory that any diesel purchase from US is Ultra.

I know you can now get DPF filters lceaned. BD diesel here in the Vancouver area is doing it. As far as the engines themselves are concerned, they run better on the higher sulfur diesel.

Asw far as Ted White is concerned, he seems to know a lot more about running late model diesels in mexico than anyone else out there.
