Upper Peninsula, Michigan travel in July

I'm planning a trip through the UP between July 9 and 23rd out of KY. I'm pretty comfortable with parks and places to stay in both Lower Michigan and Wisconsin, but haven't been to the UP for 25 years and then it wasn't with a RV. I drive a Class A with a toad. Can anyone recommend places to stay and places to stay away from. Also if there are roads I'll need to stay away from, please let me know. Any one interested in joining I plan on being in the SOO around July 12 or 13th. I need to be in Madison, WI on or before July 19.

Wish I could be there. We are planning on visiting the Soo in August with our son and daughter in law and new grandson in August. It's never too early to get them to appreciate the U.P.:)
When traveling west from the Bridge on Hwy 2, schedule some time to stop along the shore and dig your toes into the sand. There are numerous pull offs and rest areas to enjoy a picnic lunch at just west of the Bridge. It'll be the best part of your trip! Grab a pasty at the Whitetail Resort's restaurant (Just east of Brevort).really tasty.
