US 30 is a lot of mountains and winding roads. It has a couple 'runaway truck' ramps for trucks that burn out their brakes.
Pay the tolls and stay on the Turnpike and US 15. It's all 4 lane road.
But, if you're not towing anything, I recommend US 30. It's a nice scenic drive.
Another option is stay on I-70 to Frederick Maryland and take US 15 north to Gettysburg. You'll probably have more traffic taking that route.
