US 395 Kamer Junction to Hesperia

Hi, has anyone driven this section lately? Last Spring heading northbound the road was rough! Plus a lot of construction. This time we are headed South.

Thanks in advance

Pete
  • They've made a lot of changes along that stretch recently. Most of the work has been for safety. There are double-double yellow stripes and semi-permanent plastic delineators in the center to stop fools from crossing the center to pass. It's definitely better now than in the past.
  • Will be over that road in a couple weeks. I don't remember a bad road as much as tons of slow traffic and stop lights. Going to get a lot worse for through traffic if area development continues.
  • Pete, things are a little better than before -- some repaving, some additional passing lanes. And if your choice is 395 versus going through metro LA, 395 can be a little faster. Check traffic on Google Maps as you approach the area, in order to choose the least bad route. ;)

Having said that, they are starting to build subdivisions again in the Hesperia/Adelanto area -- construction had come to a halt after the real estate crash of 2008, but land values have recovered, and the bulldozers are no longer dozing. ;)

So once those houses get built and occupied, there will be additional congestion on 395 in the vicinity of I-15.

    Thanks.
