- Sounds like a nice drive. 72 terminates near Chattanooga, so what would be your planned route from there? The interstates would be 24 to 75 to 40, but keeping with the non-interstate theme overall perhaps you could get through Chattanooga on I-24, then either take 75 up to Cleveland or US 64, and hop from Cleveland east on US 64 to get on 411 which will take you all the way to Sevierville, avoiding Knoxville. Some pretty country. Either way, if going through Chattanooga I’d recommend the interstate as both US 64 and 41 go through tunnels, and the 41 tunnel is only 12’6” I believe.
Oh, and edited to add that you should stop at the Lodge Outlet in South Pittsburg, TN! - ken56ExplorerLooks like a nice route but it goes through northern Mississippi and Alabama mostly. Planning any stops along that way? It's a long enough day on 40 for that distance let alone taking secondary road. Guntersville state park is a nice place to stop. A little south of your route but not that far off.
