The Loneliest Highway was an advertising ploy to get more people to visit central Nevada. Drive on the top half of your tank, fill up before 7 or 8 pm if you plan to drive into the night. Most of US 50 is not fenced so if you drive into the night be aware of black cows, standing on the black highway, on a dark night kind of thing. Rural Nevada people are friendly.
