Anyone using cell phone with AT&T in Mexico? I talk with an At&T agent and he says with the $60 plan, you get to use your Cell phone and Data without roaming charges, same goes for Canada.Want to know if you use it and how it is for coverage and speed, and is there any limits that applies to the service while in Mexico. It says there is a 50% limit on talk and text and you cannot call from Mexico to Canada, you can only call from Mexico to USA or USA to Canada or vice versa.I was also checking TelCel but the price seems to be quite the same but with AT&T I could use it in Mexico, then comming back through USA and the rest in Canada.Thanks

If you have a cheap TelCel phone, you can add the Amigo plan for 100p, and that gives you 23 days of unlimited calling to the US and Canada.

I use my AT&T phone all the time to call from MX to the US. No issues. Coverage is good. The only thing is I have to add +1 to my contacts to make the call go through.

I am more interested in using the internet with the Iphone. For calls, I use either Facetime or Gmail from the internet.

Be aware that with AT&T GoPhone, you can no longer call Canada from mexico. I use mine for incoming and use a Telcel for calling Canada.

This is what they told me too, no call from Mx to Can. I plan on buying AT&T US sim card for my Iphone and use it in Mexico. I checked the price for Telcel versus AT&T and for the same data usage they seem to be approximatly the same price.

If AT&T works fine, I prefer to keep my AT&T as I can use it when I come back from Mexico and still use the rest in Canada.

With Telcel you can buy a cheap smart phone and use the internet. I have called from Mexico to both Canada and the USA. Can also call from Canada to the USA and Canada to Mexico. Works great.

No idea on Canadian calls, but we bought the GoPhone SIM card kit, and installed it in an unlocked iphone 5. The experts say all iphones are unlocked, but don't take their word for it; check before you go. Bought the 60 dollar card and the built-in hotspot was a life saver for the drive down, wife was able to connect her ipad to it, and if directions that were given by Garmin 760 were suspect, we could check them out with another source. The iphone required roaming to be enacted to work with the cellular data setting being on. We've accumulated 4 gigs of data/roaming, and now data doesn't work in the Chapala area, not sure why. But it still connects through Telcel for calls.

We are on an ATT family plan with 6 gig of data for four people. By bumping up to 20 gig before we left the US, we get unlimited data, phone and text in Mexico. Then when we get back we will drop back down to the 6 gig plan. I think this added about $40 US to our plan for those three months, but I was looking at adding $40 for unlimited text and $1/minute telephone otherwise! And yes, it has worked quite well.

You used to be able to call cnaada form mexico on an AT&T phone, but they cut that last year. I actually have a Seatle number I can remote call forward on the net, so I set that to the canadian number I need to call.
