If you're used to driving mountains you're 27' rig will probably be O.K. Are you comfortable with your braking ability?
However, Hwy 14 is a very steep and curvy road - 8% grades, 25 mph curves, 10,000' summit which is 18 miles east of Cedar City. The eastbound descent has 6-8% grades and one section is 3-1/2 miles long and another is 4 miles long.
Hwy 143 heading east is a warning sign "13% uphill grades - not recommended for trailers."
The best highway to cross from I-15 to 89 in that area is Hwy 20. It's an easy drive.
