Lost Dutchman State Park at the foot of the Superstition Mtns, near Apache Junction, AZ is a gem. We camp there a couple of times in the winter. Well maintained park, gorgeous scenery, and lots of great hiking trails.

The downside is that it is extremely popular in the winter. I would advise making a reservation online. If you just show up, there may or may not be openings in the winter.
