Further to what I said previously about Wells Grey, I would recommend going to Clearwater Lake to camp if you are going there. The campsite halfway in I think is called Pyramid, and may have a higher population of mosquitoes. I believe you can reserve sites at Clearwater Lake as well, though there are lots of first come first serve. There is also a provincial campsite just west of Clearwater on the Thompson River along highway 5.
If you want to splurge, there is a boat tour that goes up Clearwater Lake, and even into Azure Lake beyond Clearwater. You can also rent canoes if you wish. Wells Grey is a popular destination for European tourists.
Another point that may influence your choice of campsites is that Johnson's Canyon has a shower facility. Waterfowl Lakes have bathroom houses with flush toilets and cold water. Other campsites along the Banff-Jasper highway are more rustic.
