Vancouver Toll Bridge

An interesting note: RVing through Canada we crossed a large bridge in Vancouver marked as toll but zipped across without seeing a toll booth. Talking with others at a campground I found out that Canada will just bill you for the toll with about $2 added for not having a quick pass device. Sure enough, after about a month back home, the bill arrived in the mail. What a great way to collect tolls! I'd gladly pay that extra charge not to have to deal with lines at a toll booth!

  • The big signs near the bridge tell you to go to the internet. If you do, and put in your licence plate, your trip comes up and you make a payment that way, or follow the directions to drive off the highway and pay at the booth in BC.

South Florida, which has a plethera of toll roads, has the same system. Either a Sun Pass or "toll by plate" where they mail you a bill.

Yep Florida started this in 2011

  • Just have to be careful what toll roads you travel or you'll get a big surprise when you get home. Traveled on the toll road 407 around Toronto and got a $100 bill in the mail. Called and complained and it was reduced to $14.
