  • Decided to take rt 10 to rt 50 to stay in Lamar tonight. Couldn't find any rv parks on 160, then Dodge City and Chanute. I don't like to drive too far in a day. Haven't tried out the Nuwa forum yet,but plan to,have been told about it by a couple of other Hitchhiker owners I met on the road.I do love this forum though.Thank you everyone for your help, Dave
  • About 50 miles east is Fort Scott. There is a old military fort there that is interesting, as well as a national cemetery.
  • Well, we had only one day there so we decided to drive over to Coffeeville, Kansas. It was a nice day visit. There is a museum largely devoted to the Dalton Gang who met their Waterloo in Coffeeville. We did not have time to visit the Safari Museum in Chanute. There are several possibilities for a day trip, but I've forgotten now what they were. Hope you don't have the kind of storm we had one night at the Santa Fe RV Park. That was the strongest wind gusts we've ever been in. The wind came right across our trailer (and so it was with all of the trailers) and we were "rockin and rollin." Fortunately, even though there were limbs everywhere, I don't believe anyone had any damage.

We go through Walsenburg all the time. Usually turn there to go through Garner and Westcliffe to Salida and either to Buena Vista or over Monarch to Gunnison.

Are you on the HitchHiker (NuWa) Forum?
  • What about US 160 east to Kansas 144 (where 160 turns south with US 83)--to US 56, then US 400 at Dodge City. US 400 to Kansas 39 which will put you right at Chanute.

I was there last year about this time, stayed in the Santa Fe RV Park and had service done at NuWa.
