Seems to be a lack of clear thinking people along with Draconian laws giving New Jersey it's problems.
Maybe, but if the guy had put the gun where it wasn't accessible by he or any passengers there would be no story.
Yeah, it's an antique. But cops aren't really trained to tell the difference between antique guns and modern guns. And irrespective of age they're all designed to inflict harm, right?
NJ's highways are popular for drug traffickers passing through the state - typically from south to north. They have guns. Cops' jobs are perilous. Simple rules minimize their risk. Reading through the article it seemed the guy had a bit of an attitude and was dealt with accordingly.
I travel to the Poconos a lot. I pass the memorial for NJ State Trooper Philip Lamonaco every time. Executed by drug dealers during a traffic stop.

If you're passing through the state in an RV the chances you'll be stopped are slim to none. If you do get stopped, make sure you're abiding by the rules. It's not hard.
Thank you for bringing some common sense to this issue.
Follow the rules.
Don't cop an attitude with a cop.
If you have problems with these 2 guidelines, you probably shouldn't have fire arms in your possession.
