The first time I was on the old hwy 30,was in '49,when my grandparents took us to Seaside from their home in Yakima. I do remember stopping at Celilo Falls and watching the Indians fishing,Multnomah Falls, the Vista House overlook.
Severals years ago,my aunt and I stayed at Memalose and toured some of the road and couldn't believe just how narrow it was and to think that was the major east/west highway for years.
I love traveling in Oregon and there aren't too many places there I haven't been, that goes for Washington as well, but have spent more time in Or.
It may be a day trip for her,but we're heading up to Goldendale, then east out of there to Bickleton to see the carousal museum,Prosser for some wine tasting and then Yakima where she and my mom grew up.My grandfather was an attorney there from 1900 till 1966.
