Hwy 101 in Oregon and Washington

101 is a major truck route so no problem with size. PortTownsend and CCW down 101 takes you around rain forests etc. And then some harbors, check the activities in Long Beach. Don't skip Astoria and stay in Ft Stevens or Lewis and Clark Golf and RV Park. Maritime Museum, water front trolly, Bow Picker has great fish and chips. There is a lot to see and do as you head down the coast and be sure to pull off at every view site, water, surf, lighthouses and more. Stay near Newport if not at the harbor and enjoy the Rogue Brewery food and tours. Every area has something to offer.

Several interesting towns in N CA but not much past the Redwoods. Or you could take US 1 down the coast.

BTW Thanks again for taking the lead on the 2013 Alaska trip. As I recall we were enjoying clear skys while you 2 weeks ahead had a bit of rain???

Yes, very doable. Great road in majority of the route. Don't plan on making a speed record!
Kalaloch Beach overflow campground is a favorite!
Tatoosh Head is the farthest west point of continental US. Great view from trail to overlook.

Thanks. CA Traveler, yes we did hit some rain up in Alaska but still love that trip. We loved that trip. We went back again with my sister and Brother-in-law following us in 2018. Never get tired of Alaska.

A beautiful drive! Campground reservations might be a good idea...May through September.

Been on the central Oregon Coast for 7 months this year, now that campgrounds are open speeds can be as low as 45 for extended distances, people just enjoying the views.

Suggest you start to look at areas and towns you might want to visit and start thinking about reservations,especially along the Oregon coast.

More familiar with the Washington segment. The road is fine for towing, but has never been a route to make record time on, speed-wise, even in the off season.

Certain times of the year traffic is busy so plan around that

Sight see, T shirts shops, eat, views, Tillamook, State Parks, water, whales, traffic, clam chowder, ice cream.
Repeat.

Repeat.

Repeat.
