Exchange fees are a real plag in Canada, and on top our dollars is 1.23 over the US dollar right now, a 1000 dollars cost around $250 plus any fees from your bank, your credit card, ATM fees, etc., no wonder we try to get the best rate and the lowest fees.
Bank charges varies between different banks and with different currencies, and in Canada, you will have fees, no matter which bank or credit union or credit cards. And, never take for granted what a bank tell you about the rates, they will tell you THEIR rate, which is not the currency rate.
Monday I will check with my bank and see what is the difference between the bank rate and the currency rate for the Pesos.
