Beautifully said! In February, the only Pemex that didn't take cards was the one between the San Carlos turnoff and the main highway, on the east side. Literally the only one we have run into in 2 years.
We also hear from many people that they are afraid to use their credit cards on line. As someone who makes their living on eBay, believe me, there is no reason not to use your credit card anywhere or anytime, as long as you don't have to pay any fees to use them! We'll use ours at Soriana in Tijuana Tuesday, then use the ATM to get pesos.
Interestingly, the Santander ATM in Zihuatanejo at the bank charges 15p per transaction more than their ATM at Soriana. Go figure! No, we have never had a card eaten or spoken to anyone who actually had it happen to them, either.
