Tom, I did know that handguns could be brought in, but only for very specifics uses. Is that covered under the 'Authorisation to Transport' which I assume is where you put the reason in.
I seem to remember my friend had to get a form like this when we used to take his hand guns to the range.
I would assume that if you put down the reason as 'personal protection' it would be denied?

Perhaps he was real and being a perp and got blasted into oblivion by a gun toting person.:D

What kind of firearm? You allude to a handgun. Long gun or handgun?

FFL firearms transfers will be the safest route. You can mail or ship a firearm to an FFL, but an FFL will have to send it to another FFL for you to pick up. Hence, you could send it to Tok and pick it up there, then drop it off at Tok to have shipped to an FFL in the lower 48 and pick it up there. Usually $25 per transfer. Then take care in individual States that you are transporting and possessing a firearm legally.
