Which route for Loft Mtn Campground

We will be coming from the Outer Banks, NC. Is it best to use the Swift Run Gap entrance or the Rockfish Gap entrance? Swift Run appears closer to the campground but Rockfish appears to stay on I-64 longer. Would appreciate thoughts from those of you that have stayed there.
  • Sorry - pretty new to the forum and haven't created a signature yet. (Guess I'll have to work on that) We are traveling in a Jayco 22FB (so about 26 feet) and have reserved site D88 which by the pictures seemed to be a pretty decent site and I found other reviews that were positive. I suppose that if it isn't we can try to get there early for a first come first serve site. Thanks for your help!

I didn't see in your signature, what type RV you have, but A loop at Loft Mtn. Is the best for RV's bigger than popups, but it is first come first serve.
  • Thanks bukhrn! Rockfish it is - and Kettle Korn sounds like a bonus! :)

Definitely Rockfish, right off I-64,exit 99, much easier, Swift Run which is rt 33, is VERY hilly (Actually a big climb)& VERY curvy coming up from Stanardsville, heading up to Skyline Dr. You can get a good view on Google Maps, Street View
Plus, when you get off I-64, there is a great little roadside stop to get some great Kettle Korn & Pork Rinds. :B
