Just seeing if anyone has been to either of these places. I've got 5 days booked in each place in mid-August and I'm just looking for opinions. They've both got good reviews from what I've seen but another opinion never hurts

I've been to both. I actually prefer Wapati in Jasper but I think I'm in the minority but if you can get a site by the river it's pretty nice and you can watch the rafters go by. They're across they road from each other so the location is great for sightseeing trips. If you have the time do a trip out to mt Robson, I'd suggest going as far as Rearguard falls. It's only about an hour.I've stayed in Mount Kidd once, not really my cup of tea. It's more of a resort. It's a great location though with lots to do around it. Make sure you go up to the lakes. There's a campground up there called Interlakes, I like it a lot but it's very difficult to get into.

We've only been to Whistler's in Jasper and stayed in the back at the dry spots. Here's a blog of our trip campsites and it includes a picture of our site at Whistler's. They had full hookup sites up front, but they were booked when we got there and we were asked if we wanted to get on a waiting list. We did, but after seeing the sites compared to what we had, we declined. The full hook up sites were close together, cramped actually. Picture of Whistler site.

It is a beautiful campground with a lot of very nice sites depending on what loop your in. There are a few trails right around the campground and tons of hiking in the area. The store is well supplied and they have a kids pool if you have youngsters. They keep the place fairly clean but it's a busy campground as it is fairly full all summer. In my opinion, it is a little pricey, but I think it's worth and we'll keep going back. We were there for July 1 and will be back for Sept long weekend.

We've never been in the serviced sites at Whistler so can't comment on those. I do know the serviced sites at Wapati are just a parking lot.Whistlers has nice showers and the show they put on at the ampitheatre was actualy pretty good. I think the firewood permit is awesome, we like to have a fire going so $8 is pretty reasonable imo. Of course there's lots to do since you're so close to Jasper.Do you just want info on the campground or would you like suggestions on other activities in the area? I know both areas quite well if you want some ideas.
