There aren't a lot of state parks around the Battlefield. It's located on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana. There are two RV parks in Hardin, Montana, about 16 miles north of the Battlefield on I-90. One is Grandview in Hardin; the other is a KOA a mile or so north of Hardin. I've stayed at both, and both are OK.
Next to the Battlefield is 7th Ranch RV Park. It is within sight of the Battlefield. I would recommend this one for proximity. The Crow Nation Tribal Headquarters is located across the road from the entrance to the Battlefield. Check to see what is going on during the time you will be there. There will be battlefield re-enactments around the anniversary date - 25/26 June. During this time frame, reservations are a must.
If you take US-212 from Spearfish, SD to the battlefield, you will pass through the Cheyenne Reservation.
If you want to go to Devil's Tower, you'll probably by-pass US-212 and stay on I-90 west of Rapid City, SD. There will be a short detour to the Tower, then back on I-90 west and north to the Battlefield.
