Well it was the worst physical road but it took us to one of the most beautiful places.
Northern Ontario. At Chapleau you get on an unused logging road and just follow, do not turn right or left or you could be lost for ages. We travelled no faster than 25 kilometers an hour, probably averaging 15.
The road was solid washboard with many large potholes. It was about 8" wider than our boat in spots.
At one point I got out and walked in front of hubby driving. To my right was rock, straight up about 50' and to my left a lake. The problem was, the lake had flooded the road right up to the rock face. You could not tell where the road was. It was over my knees and if you had not driven this road you would not know where the road might be.
6 1/2 hours later we reached our destination. A beautiful lake. I can't remember exactly how many thousand of acres it covered. We were in absolute heaven and did not see another human being for 2 weeks, no planes in the sky overhead, no cell service, just the sound of birds, water, the wind , the wolves and the bear that visited us nightly.
We love logging roads and we have actually travelled on a corduroy road we found in the bush. I guess that might have been the worst road, LOL
